Wayne Eugene Johnson's Obituary
Wayne Eugene Johnson, 88, passed away on March 15, 2025, at Oak Manor Assisted Living. He was born on July 26, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Army from October 1955 to October 1961. After his service, he found joy in Florida, where he worked as a skilled craftsman on yachts. His passion for woodworking extended beyond his profession, as he loved tinkering and creating with his hands. An avid fisherman, Wayne cherished time spent by the water.
He was a longtime member of the American Legion and was known for his charm, kindness, and gentlemanly nature. Those who knew him will remember his warm spirit and playful sense of humor.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Julie and Amy Johnson; stepchildren Debbie Smith, Michele Newtz, Donna Buck and Ron Athey; grandchildren Heather, William, Daniel, Mark, Brandon, Curtis, Kristin, Travis, Angel, Bonnie and L.J.; great-grandchildren Patrick and Wyatt; sisters Linda and Nancy; and his special girlfriend, Sandy. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, A. Kathryn Johnson; his adored second wife, Dorothy Johnson; his cherished daughter Laura Kennah and his brothers Jack and Kenneth.
A memorial service will be held on April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
