Sylvia Rose Disotell's Obituary
Sylvia Rose Disotell of Largo, Florida passed away peacefully on March 30,2026, after a long battle with cancer and heart issues. She was born in Cortland, NY on Sept. 9, 1942 to Rose (Gabriel) and Silvio Sardo. Sylvia is survived by two sons, Joseph (Jessie) and Lawrence (Candace) , and grandson David of Largo, Fl., a sister Arlene Sardo, of Baldwinsville, NY, nieces Maria (John) Leana of Marcellus, NY, Gina (Dino) Mazzara of Syracuse, NY, Lisa (David) King of Charlottesville, VA, sister-in-law Regina Sardo, of Syracuse, sister-in-law Jane Sardo, of Central Islip, NY and several grandnieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Jean and brother Lawrence.
After graduating from Cortland Jr. Sr. High School in 1960 she attended SUNY Cortland with a BS in Education. Sylvia began her first teaching position in DeRuyder, NY. After moving to Liverpool, she taught in the Baldwinsville Central School District for the rest of her career. While working in Baldwinsville she was active in many professional organizations. Sylvia was Secretary of the B’ville Teachers Association, on the NEA Board of Directors, Political Action Chair for Region 7, and on the Cabinet of the Board of Directors. She founded The Substitute Teachers Association of B’ville when she retired and served as President for 2 years.
Sylvia moved to Florida to be nearer her family. She had many hobbies and interests. She loved to read, crochet, play Mah Jon, and any card game. She belonged to and was Secretary of the Tampa Bay Area Women’s Club Inc. At her Park she served on the Activities Committee, and the Shangri La Home Owners' Association.
