Svante Röding's Obituary
Svante Röding passed away peacefully in his home in Seminole, Florida, on September 27th, 2021 at the age of 71. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1950 and grew up in a city above the Arctic Circle. He received advanced degrees in mechanical engineering, and made a career as a Research Scientist in the paper industry.
He met his wife, Sandra, at the age of 22 while on a roadtrip through Europe. It was love at first sight and she canceled her return flight to the United States to spend the next 13 years with him in Stockholm. They eventually moved to the U.S. Juliana and Annelie, their daughters, were born in Pennsylvania in the early 1990’s, less than 2 years apart.
Svante was always the life of the party, and for his 50th birthday his many friends from around the world ventured to the Röding family summer house, Grundet, outside of Stockholm. He was a lifelong learner, and even after retiring at the age of 55, Svante spent time studying quantum physics, evolution, medicine and history.
He was an avid skier, traveler, and hockey enthusiast. He traveled to every continent in the world, even Antarctica at the age of 65. He embarked upon many adventures including skydiving in Zimbabwe, exploring the Galapagos islands, and climbing the highest mountain in Sweden (twice), just to name a few.
Aside from being survived by his wife and daughters, Svante also leaves behind his sister, Inger, and brother, Olle, as well as his beloved dog, Marley. He will be greatly missed by many.
