Robert J. Schunk's Obituary
Robert (Bob) J. Schunk, 89, of St. Petersburg died May 26, 2019 under hospice care and in the presence of two loving nieces. He was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara Sue Johnson. He is the son of the late Norman and Eleanor (Thiel) Schunk; brother of Mary Pierce, James, Jerome and the late Clayton, Harold, Edward, Eugene, Norman, Elmer, Kenneth, Carol Neiger and Paul Schunk; brother-in-law to Judy Simpson and the late Martha Ross. He is also survived by 46 nieces and nephews.
Bob grew up on the family farm in North Boston, New York. As a young man he came to Florida and decided to make his life here. He was a Korean War Veteran and worked as a union carpenter. Bob and his wife enjoyed seeing various parts of the world traveling by land, sea and air. Bob was an accomplished shuffle board player and loved spending time with his family and friends, always having kind words, lending a helping hand, or telling a corny joke, making those around him smile.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
