Mr. Robert Metcalf's Obituary
Robert E Metcalf, 91, left this world on May 21, 2018. Born in Oak Park, Ohio on October 31, 1926, to Gale and Beatrice Metcalf. The family settled in St. Petersburg where Bob attended and graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1944. He went on to join the US Navy receiving an honorable discharge. He then went on to work for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in Shore Acres and supervisor until his retirement in1988. Bob married the love of his life Martha on May 5, 1977. They lived life to the fullest capacity traveling and just being with each other. They played like children where ever they were. Their marriage was a wonderful example and a true love story for forty-one years. Bob's health declined rapidly after a simple outpatient surgery on his knee produced serious medical issues. He was never able to return to his beloved home but stayed in a nursing facility for the next six years. His sweet Martha was right by his side almost daily during this time until her untimely death on April 8, 2018. Bob was able to get to the hospital to see her on the day she passed. It was like a scene from the movie "The Notebook." After her passing Bob lost his will to live and joined her just six weeks after her death. While their love story is over on earth we feel they are playing in heavens playground now with the gentle hand of The Lord watching over. No more pain and suffering, just peace.
Gone before Bob are his parents Gale and Beatrice Metcalf, Sister Barbara Metcalf Brandiff, and Neice Nike Diane Brandiff
Bob is survived by his brother Richard Metcalf (Shirley ), Daughter, Debbie Metcalf McClane (Don), Susan Lee Dearden, Granddaughter, Alyssa Hoskinson, Grandson, Kristopher Lee Hoskinson, Great Grandaughter, Kirynn Lee Hoskinson, Nephew, Albert Brandiff Jr, Michael Metcalf, Neice, Peggy Lee Brandiff Yelverton, Paige Metcalf Christine
Bob's life will be celebrated on June 6, 2018, at 10 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
