I have already shared thoughts and love from the trip Gary and I took with Bob and Martha --to Ireland. Here is the poem I have written for Bob:
For Life and Love and Laughter
What blessing Bob has been to all of us--
love and laughter the gift of his wonderful life.
There was always a topic he could dwell on,
cause us to think twice, look at each other, then laugh.
And a great hugger, too! Always embracing us,
bringing depth to the moment--memories of days gone by.
Today, the chord of our collective laughter is missing a note.
A smiling twinkle lived among us for a time.
Now we must look to the night sky to find it--
some distant star we never noticed before, compelling us
to love, and live, and laugh. Now we know
love never leaves us.
In loving memory of Bob Metcalf

For many years, my husband, Gary, and I went to Anna Maria Island for a week in the summer. On the way, we stopped in St. Pete and spent the night with Bob and Martha.
It was great to become so close to my great cousin and her wonderful husband. They
enhanced our lives. We also took a trip to Ireland with them one summer--and that was fantastic--two people who were loving, enjoyed looking around and learning, and both with great senses of humor, especially Bob. Twisting and turning through Ireland and Wales was quite a great experience.
I also have written a poem for Bob. I'll try to add it here, but I don't know if it will let me go
off screen, then return. If not, I'll add it in a new space.

Bob, you will be missed. I can honestly say you were the nicest person I have ever met in all my travels, I don't think they make 'em like you any more!. I always enjoyed the time we spent together, and you always had great stories to tell. When I think of Florida and especially ST Pete, I think of you and Martha. Embark now on another journey with the love of your life Martha in another place, and may your sails be full of wind forever more.
Bob was a kind and thoughtful man. I never heard him say a mean thing about or to anyone. He adored his wife, Martha. He was my brother-in-law for 40 years. I appreciated his generosity over those years. My family will miss him.
So many wonderful memories of times we shared with both Bob and Martha, our next door neighbors.
He certainly was a wonderful husband to Martha.
He was always so positive and upbeat.
Thanking God that they are together once again.
