Robert J Armbruster's Obituary
ARMBRUSTER, Robert J. (“Bob”) (85), of Seminole, Florida passed away peacefully on June 20, 2020. Born in Chicago, Bob moved to Florida from Hawaii in 1992. He was a graduate of Beloit (WI) College, served in the U.S. Army, and worked for 40 years as an award-winning writer and an editor for colleges and universities and other non-profit organizations including Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and the East-West Center in Honolulu.
Since 1975 he was active as an actor in community theatres in the Tampa Bay area and, before that, in Maryland and Hawaii. He performed in over 40 productions, including One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Annie, A Walk in the Woods, and Harvey playing his favorite role of Elwood P. Dowd. He was also a volunteer for many years at American Stage in St. Petersburg.
Bob loved golf and was the golf coach for Johns Hopkins University while he was editor there.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nancy (MacCoy); two sons, Thomas (Kathy Chandler) of Ithaca, New York and Christopher (Carol Benson) of White Hall, MD; two granddaughters, Kalia Armbruster of Oakland CA, and Natalie Armbruster of White Hall, MD, and a grandson, Bryan Armbruster of Fairfax, VA.
