RICHARD BONNELL, 82
Richard “Rich” Bonnell, 82 of St. Petersburg Florida, passed away, Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th Street N., St. Petersburg, Florida 33709, Father David of St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg.
Rich was born April 20, 1935 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Alfred and Helen (Wesolowski) Bonnell and was the beloved husband of Celeste Bonnell for more than 30 years. He was a professional race car driver, classic car restorer, master painter and fabricator. He enjoyed flying his large collection of remote control planes, watching baseball and spending time with his family and friends.
Rich is survived by his daughter, Julie (David) Morningstar of Indianapolis IN, three sons, Raymond (Diana) Bonnell of St. Petersburg FL, Al Bonnell of St. Petersburg, FL and Adam (Amy) Bonnell of St. Petersburg, FL, two step sons Bob Duncan of New Hampshire, James Duncan, of St. Petersburg, one step daughter Lisa (Dan) Besheers, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his brother Chester (Yvonne) Bonnell and sister Judy (Bill) Zentis and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Helen Bonnell and his grandson Bruce Kolek. Rich leaves behind his large grieving family with abundant and treasured memories of his life with them and the legacy of love he showed them.
