Lt. Pete Huffman's Obituary
Huffman, Pete, Lt., “The Legend” in the fire service, passed on August 11, 2016. After 35 years of saving lives, Lt. Huffman lost his own after battling cancer these past 17 months. He is survived by wife of 27 years Marcy Huffman, son Christopher Huffman also a firefighter for City of Pinellas Park, son Jimmy Romito (Kelly), daughter Tina Amari (Paul), 3 grandchildren James Hodgkiss of Largo, Amanda Amari of Tampa, Paul Matthew Amari, great-granddaughter Jocelyn Menendez, mother Shirley Huffman from Akron, OH and 2 sisters Peggy Hogan (Steve) of Akron, OH and Annette Barnette of Macon, GA. Lt. Huffman was well known throughout the country. Along with his active fire career, he was an instructor at St. Pete Fire Academy for over 25 years. Lt. Huffman also was a Chief Instructor for the Roco Corp. out of Baton Rouge, LA, where he trained rescue and safety techniques to other fire departments and big corporations all over the country. Lt. Huffman had the honor of training Truck Company 1 in NY, all but one of those firefighters died on 9/11. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 15th at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 3pm to 5pm and 6pm to 9pm. Funeral services with honors will take place on Tuesday, August 16th at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, 4951 78th Ave, Pinellas Park, at 10am. Lt. Huffman will be laid to rest in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater.
