Mercedes Aviles' Obituary
It’s with a deep sense of sadness that we announce the passing of Mercedes “Mercy” Aviles September 20, 2025, at the age of 91.
She was born January 31, 1934, in Manati, Puerto Rico and had residences in Brooklyn NY, Edgewater NJ, Cincinnati, OH and St. Petersburg FL. A homemaker most of her life, placing family first. Mercy had a tremendous heart, always looking outward and assisting those in need; a true Christian spirit. She was a longtime member of the Iglesia Bautista Redencion de Tampa, FL.
Anyone who knew Mercedes knew how much she loved her family, her congregation at Iglesia Bautista Redencion and all her loving friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Juan Aviles and a son Juan Enrique Aviles. Survived by daughter Sylvia Aviles, son Juan Luis (Janet) Aviles, grandchildren Erin (Chris) Niehaus, Michael (Britney) Aviles, Emma (Austin) Eibel, Ayla Aviles, Lehman
Noviello, and Benjamin Watters. Great-grandchildren Gabi, Billie, Juna and Leo.
The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the many family, friends and Suncoast Hospice for their assistance with the care of Mercedes.

A service will be held October 4, 2025 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709.
