I did not know Aunt Mae but I do know her niece Roberta through the Alzheimer Support Group.
Aunt Mae must have been a wonderful and precious person because Roberta spent so many hours to be with her beloved aunt.
She put her aunt's well-being before her own family needs which necessitated lots of travel and even relocating from New York. May GOD bless both of them.
I didn't know Aunt Mae well, but I know that my husband Greg thought the world of her. She is what my dad would call a "kabbitzah", always sharing a smile, a joke, a wink of the eye. Even at her 90th birthday party when she was asked where should would like to sit, she pointed to Greg and said "on his lap"! We are so grateful to Roberta and Barry and the kind staff at Bon Secours for taking such good care of her and making her feel so loved.
We are so sorry for your loss but she was surely loved and cared for until the lord took her to be with him. I am so glad we were able to spend Monday together...that was a very "Happy" day spent with family and "friends" Thanks for sharing! Never forget...We are here for you whenever you need a "friend" ...to talk to or just to listen. Take Care of yourself now!
Aunt Mae was a loving, giving, caring, holy, socialable, funny, generous, and energetic lady. She found the best in everyone. She will be sorely missed but the memories of her visits to Vermont, our exercising escapades to Elaine Powers, and stories will live in my heart forever. Long ago, she nicknamed me "Queenie". In recent years, her memory lapsed a bit and she would call me different names like Victoria or Elizabeth. These names of queens let me know she knew who I was even though she may not have remembered my first name. Peace be with you, Auntie Mae.
