Marvis graduated from Boca Ciega High School June 9, 1961. She was the second child to Floyd and Laverne Hebron. Her father Floyd was part owner of Akers and Hebron Hardware Store on 9th Avenue in St. Petersburg.
Marvis graduated from Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Orlando, Florida on August 28, 1964. She then began her career working at Mound Park Hospital (now Bayfront Hospital) in St. Petersburg, Florida. In the late 1960’s she made the move to Denver Colorado. In Colorado she worked for General Rose Memorial Hospital, and this is where she met her future husband, Merl. They were married on April 5, 1968. Marvis wanted to return to Florida, where she had grown up. Shortly after marrying Merl, they returned to the St. Petersburg area where they enjoyed raising their three boys and building the family tree service.
In addition to being a registered nurse, mother and housewife, Marvis enjoyed volunteering to teach people about the Bible. She was a member of the Central English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in St. Petersburg, Florida. To further her ministry, she worked hard to learn Vietnamese and supported the Vietnamese group for a couple of years.
Marvis never enjoyed the spotlight, even from her youth as evidenced by her mother's expression: "You would have a date for the Senior Prom if you weren't such a wallflower!" Well, this "wallflower" quietly danced her way into the hearts of so many who knew her by her endearing qualities. Hard worker, considerate of others as evidenced by willingly providing assistance to others over the years, unwavering love for her family and friends. She was all rewarded by the love she was given in return and in particular in her declining times. Her surviving family is grateful for all the support given to them in their great loss, which is shared by all who loved her.
