Louis Albert Abbott, born on June 23, 1932, in Swissvale, Pennsylvania, he passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old.
Lou was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Assunta and Dominico Abate, his brother James, and his sister Philomena. He grew up in Pennsylvania, where he met the love of his life, Mary Lisa Abbatico. They were married on September 20, 1957, and a year later began their new life together in Florida. It was there that they raised their five children and built a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family values.
Lou is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 68 years, Mary Lisa Abbott; his children: Lisa (Joseph), Debbie (Donnie), Mike (Shannon), Tony (Susie), and Joey. He was a proud “Papa-Lou” to ten grandchildren and their spouses: David (Kimmy), Alyssa (Paul), Dana (Brandon), Aubry (Sean), Anthony, Andrew (Janelly), Matthew (Carolina), Kadie (Paul), Emily (Leon), and Analeese. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren: Carter, Sawyer, Millie, Bennett, and Eva.
Lou served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served as a military police officer. After his military service, he began a long and successful career at Honeywell, retiring after 35 years of dedicated work.
A true craftsman at heart, Lou loved spending time in his garage, fixing things, tinkering, and always finding ways to make something better. His hands were rarely still, and he took great pride in working with tools and solving problems with his quiet ingenuity.
One of Lou’s greatest joys was the Christmas season. He went all out decorating the front yard with an abundance of lights and festive decorations that brought joy to the whole neighborhood..
In retirement, Lou and Mary traveled the world together, fulfilling dreams and collecting memories. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping trips with his family. A lifelong Disney fan, Lou had a special fondness for Goofy and found great joy in family vacations to the parks.
A man of deep faith, Lou was a devoted Catholic and a longtime active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His faith, generosity, and steadfast devotion to his family were the cornerstones of his life.
Louis Albert Abbott was the heart of his family—the proud patriarch whose quiet strength, steady guidance, and unconditional love will continue to resonate through generations. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
