Joiner, John B. Jr., 76, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday 11/17/07 at his home. He came to St. Petersburg from his native Biloxi, MS. He served in the Army during the Korean War and he was a history teacher and guidance counselor Read Obituary
John and I met in 1959 and were in regular contact until the last few years of his life. He was a good friend to me and I'm heartbroken that we weren't in contact at the end of his life.
Even though it has been some months since his death I am mourning his passing and send my deepest sympathy to those who cared about him.
Mr.Joiner was my Geography teacher at Disston Jr. High School. We learned not only Geography (which isn't taught anymore), but Florida history - we had to know all the counties in order, who the government officials were, etc. My children haven't a clue about Fla. history - too bad Mr. Joiner couldn't have been their teacher, too. Rest in Peace, Mr. Joiner.
