John C Guss' Obituary
Guss, John C. 81, of St. Petersburg passed away on Monday, December 26, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Corinne. He is survived by sons John Jr. (Deborah), David (Linn), Wayne Groves, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, John graduated from Haverford High School in Havertown, PA, and moved to St. Pete in 1955. He served for nine years in the Pennsylvania and Florida National Guard units as a staff sergeant at the time of his discharge in 1962. He worked at Webb's City for 16 years, leaving as a member of the Board of Directors. He was employed at Winn Dixie Stores for 36 years, including 20 years as Store Manager of the Treasure Island Winn Dixie. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 50 years.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg, with Rev.Kevin Loughran from Grace Lutheran presiding.
