The beautiful and vivacious woman that was Irene Vann was my grandmother. I have so many fond memories that span my lifetime. My father, Jim Vann Sr, and brother, James Vann Jr, would visit her in Florida almost annually to be met with our always smiling and singing grandmother. We would go out to eat and she would accompany her meal with a Manhattan, (with olives, not cherries). She was an incredible writer and graced the Bulletin Boards at her home of 30 years, Five Towns, as the Sunshine Lady. Which says a lot, considering Florida is the Sunshine State! After I graduated High School, my father moved to Florida to be closer to her and care for her. He devoted his selfless time to caring for her until his death in March of 2019. I know she is reunited with the love of her life, her husband George, who passed prior to my birth, and her doting son, my father. And I can bet that she is singing a jaunty tune with that beautiful and infectious smile upon her face. I love you Grandma, please give my dad a hug and a kiss for me. And I hope Sparky and Toby are there too.❤️
