Eleanor Gertrude Daly (nee Kasten), affectionately known as Lee, passed away on October 9, 2025, at the age of 98 in Pinellas Park, Florida. Born on September 6, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, to Bruno and Paula Kasten, Eleanor faced challenging circumstances losing her father as a child and her mother as a young adult. Following World War II, Eleanor married William J. Daly and had three children. After a family vacation to Florida, the family relocated to Kenneth City, Florida.
For many years, Eleanor worked in the cafeterias of Pinellas County schools, connecting with students and coworkers. Finding joy in her work and staying busy, Eleanor did not retire until her mid eighties.
When visiting Eleanor, the radio was often playing contemporary music, but her all-time favorite was "Ol' Blue Eyes" or Frank Sinatra. Eleanor had a heart for dogs and owned several during her lifetime. She frequently enjoyed games and puzzles, shopping for others, and going out to eat with family and friends. Those who knew her appreciated her sense of humor and how she would often make others laugh, as well as her generosity by continuously gifting those she loved.
Eleanor had a strong faith in her savior and was confident of the promise of eternal life. She regularly attended Cornerstone Community Church in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
Eleanor was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son Douglas J. Daly and his wife Melanie; Douglas's former spouse Denise and their children, Ashley, Douglas Jr., and Tyler, along with Ashley's children Mackenzie, Ava, and Ryder. She is also survived by her son William and his wife Shelley and their daughter Lydia. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Daly, and daughter Denise Daly.
Her life will be celebrated with a viewing from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on October 16th, at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Saint Petersburg, Florida. A service will follow, honoring her memory and the joy she brought into the lives of many. Eleanor's legacy of laughter, love, and generosity will forever be remembered by those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations on Eleanor's behalf to The SPCA of Tampa Bay.
