Eileen Mulder's Obituary
L. Eileen Mulder (Cannon), of Largo, Florida passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2020. Eileen was born September 30, 1928 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of James and Grace (Ritchey) Cannon. She married her husband of 64 years, Henry E. Mulder of Hoboken, NJ, on June 7, 1953. Eileen was a loving caring mother, wife and friend. Most of all she exuded happiness and joy for love and life. Even complete strangers were often amazed at how pleasant and friendly she would be, always taking the time to truly listen and share blessings and encouragement. Grocery shopping could take hours! Her interests revolved around her children and music – whether it was playing piano in honkey-tonk bars as a teenager, lying on the living room floor listening to records with her children, playing piano at home, or singing along with tunes on the radio. She was always magically able to recall lyrics to tunes not heard for decades. She was first and always a loving wife and mother, and as her children aged held jobs as a school photographer, employment agent, and senior living administrator. Her counsel, quick humor, ability to always see the good in all, and her quirky catch phrases (Hot dog! I’ll mow you down! Garsh! Forever and a day) will be greatly missed. She and her husband loved to travel and some favorite places to visit were the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. They took 35 cruises together, once going completely around the world. They loved to spend time together at their cottage in the Poconos to watch the leaves change color. Eileen is survived by her daughter, Robin Eileen; daughter, Gail Marie; son, Henry Alan; daughter, Kimberly Ann; grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Jacob, Kaitlin, Caroline, Helena, Annika, and Joshua; and great grandchildren, Dillon, and Avery. As was Eileen’s request, a grand Irish Wake will be celebrated to honor her life at a future date (tbd), probably in Virginia.
