About forty years ago, I became a born again Christian and immediately felt that it was my responsibility to save the world. In this endeavor, I shared a gospel tract with a Ray Wedler. He read it, believed what it said and handed it off to his son , Paul, who also believed and wrote it in his journal. Upon Paul’s passing, this entry brought welcomed relief to the Wedler’s that although not present in the flesh, they knew that their son was safe in heaven with Christ.
After this, Ray and I developed a close Christian relationship and when he passed, I was determined to have that same relationship with his wife Dina. I would call her once every 2 weeks and we would share the love and joy that only Born again believers can acquiesce with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This long distance phone relationship lasted for the better part of 2 years even until the day before she departed. I will not only miss her as a friend but as a sister in the Lord who encouraged me, my wife and prayed for my daughter as seriously as any family member. She would share her love of Christ with me and then would ask, towards the end of our phone call, if I would close with a prayer! When we think of saints, perhaps we think of those in the scripture or those in Foxe’s book of martyrs; however, my saint is Dina Esther Wedler. Go in peace, Dina. We will miss you dearly! – Frank Mendolia
