David C. Meling's Obituary
David C. Meling, 73, of Seminole, Florida, formally of Monmouth, Illinois passed away Oct 11,2018 at home.
He was born December 12,1944 in Rochelle, Illinois. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, Illinois and attended Warren High School, AIC Business College and Michigan State University.
David served in the United States Navy and 6 years in the Navy Reserves. He later returned to Monmouth to assist in the family business, Meling’s Motel and Restaurant.
David married Janet Winbigler on May 13, 1967 and had celebrated 51 years together.
David enjoyed keeping in touch with old friends on Facebook and loved to watch football and baseball—The Bears, Gators, Rays and Cubs were his favorite teams. He enjoyed Thursday visits to Dunkin Donuts where he would meet up with friends. David loved people and his family.
David was a member of Indian Rocks Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; daughter Melissa (Maurice) Murphy; his beloved dog Peanut; three grandchildren and two adopted granddaughters and one great granddaughter; his brother Bob (Carolyn) and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
