In Loving Memory of Bonnie Lee Jarvis
Bonnie Lee Jarvis was born on January 14, 1943, in Washington, DC, to Raymond and Louise Showalter. From an early age, her life was rooted in a deep and abiding faith in God—a faith that shaped her purpose, guided her calling, and sustained her through decades of faithful service.
After graduating from Bob Jones University with a degree in Elementary Education, Bonnie married Butch Jarvis (the love of her life) on June 25, 1966. Together they answered God’s call to missions and devoted 40 years serving on the mission field in Colombia. Her life was a testimony of obedience, humility, and unwavering trust in the Lord. Through her ministry, kindness, and gentle spirit, she shared the love of Christ with countless lives, leaving an eternal legacy of faith.
Bonnie was a gifted musician with a beautiful voice, which she used to glorify God and minister to others. Her music was an extension of her worship—uplifting hearts, offering comfort, and pointing others to Christ.
She is survived by her loving husband, Enos “Butch” Jarvis, with whom she shared a Christ-centered marriage of 59 years built on faith, service, and love. Bonnie was a devoted mother to her three sons: David Jarvis (wife Eileen Jarvis), Mike Jarvis (wife Wendy Jarvis), and Tim Jarvis (wife Bethany Jarvis). She is also survived by her brother, Gary Collins, and his wife, Sharon Collins. She was a cherished grandmother to Brittney Duncan (husband Nick Duncan), Trey Coker (wife Sarah Coker), Margaret Fortner (husband Zach Fortner), Tyler Jarvis, Erin Jarvis, Nick Jarvis (wife Sarah Jarvis), Elena Jarvis, Macie Jarvis, and Kendrick Jarvis. She was also blessed with five beloved great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.
Butch and Bonnie shared a treasured life verse that guided their journey together:
“For this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death.” — Psalm 48:14
This promise remains her legacy—a life guided by God, now resting securely in His eternal care.
Bonnie’s life reflected the love of Christ in both word and deed. She lived humbly, served faithfully, and loved deeply. While she will be greatly missed by all who knew her, we rejoice in the assurance that she is now in the presence of her Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
