Beatrice McArthur's Obituary
Beatrice McArthur
January 1, 1942 - March 16, 2024
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Beatrice came to the United States when she was 19 years old and settled in Connecticut.
A wonderful loving Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Aunt & friend.
A very special person to her family & all who knew her.
Surviving a serious car accident in 1966 led to a career as an RN and thereafter entered one of the first Physician Assistant programs, where she qualified as a P. A.
Her career was her passion, she was not only dedicated to her patients, they were family to her. Her extensive career started in New Haven, Connecticut, in the very late 60s at St. Raphael's. Then on to Yale in 1970 and worked in Plastic surgery and cardio thoracic. From 1977- 1980 she moved to Mississippi and worked for a community health project. 1980- 1983 she moved to Charleston, South Carolina, also working for a community health project.
In 1983, she moved to Maryland and worked in the V.A in D.C. specializing in Renal Dialysis & Transplants. She ran her own clinics, giving every patient her undivided attention and care and fought to make sure that got the best of care.
In the last years of her career she moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida, and worked in the VA in Tampa and retired from there.
Her other passions were her dogs and her books, she loved to read and loved to research .
I quote from one of her good friends is as follows:
"I'm not gonna lie, I sort of thought her invincible. I didn't think any person or illness had the guts to take her on and I sure didn't take any of them had the power to beat her. She was certainly one of a kind and she will be missed. She will never, not ever be forgotten!"
She is dearly loved by all her family & friends. She will be missed by everyone. She touched a lot of lives. Gone but never forgotten. Amen
