Yvette Cote's Obituary
Yvette Cote, 93, of St Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Lewiston, died after a short illness on Tuesday, February 17, with her husband John and family members at her side. She was born in St Methode, Canada on September 24, 1914. She was one of 12 children of Leon and Adalia Bolduc Couture. The family moved to Lewiston when Yvette was 6 years old, where she attended St. Peter's School. She met John Cote, originally of Van Buren, ME, and in 1945, they were married. They enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. Yvette followed her husband throughout his occupation as a chef: to Boston, Los Angeles, and finally, St. Petersburg. She was a homemaker, and during part of her life, used her organizational and financial skills in managing an apartment building. She made many friends, was a gracious hostess and loved to entertain. She loved to play - and win - card games. She will also be fondly remembered for her arts and crafts, needlepoint, and knack for home decorating. She collected dolls and created beautiful unique lamps out of broken porcelain dishes. Yvette's smile, her tenacity and zest for life will be missed dearly and never forgotten. Yvette and John lived independently in St. Petersburg until last year. She then moved to Golden Life Manor and was cared for lovingly by owner and manager, Lana Zablotska. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant son Donald, and all of her siblings. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband John, brother-in-law Roland Cote of Mexico, ME and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. A Catholic memorial service was offered in her honor on Saturday, Feb. 21. She is interred at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
