Mr. William Dixon Southworth PHD's Obituary
SOUTHWORTH, William D. 90, of St. Petersburg, died Oct. 8. He was born in Union City, TN and served in the U.S. Navy from 1938-1944. In 1944, he married Violet Kuehn Southworth. They were together 62 years. He followed a career in public school teaching and administration, earning a Ph.D. at NYU in 1961. William Southworth was a professor at St. John's University from 1968 to 1984. He was a registered parliamentarian and wrote a textbook on the subject. He also wrote a number of fictional works. William Southworth is survived by his daughter, Linda Southworth; son-in-law, Dennis Burvant; dear friend, Beverly Alsen, and Jacquelyn Ottman; widow of his deceased son, Geoffrey Southworth. He is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was entombed at Royal Palm Cemetery on Oct. 14th. A memorial service will take place at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1901 62 Ave. S., on Sunday, Oct. 25th at 4 pm.
