William "Darrell" Simpson's Obituary
William "Darrell" Simpson, 75, passed away April 4, 2026, at HCA Florida Northside Hospital. He was born on "Simpson Hill" on September 6, 1950, in Easaboga, Alabama, to the late William and Maudie Simpson.
Darrell was one of ten children, and is predeceased by his siblings Terrie Gosford, Billy Simpson, Maurine Wilson, LR Simpson, Vernon Simpson, Linda Thurmon, and Hazel Clark. He is survived by his sisters Anna M. Saye of Florida, and Carole Hughes of Texas, as well as 18 nieces and nephews. Darrell was loved by all who knew him.
Darrell graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was deeply caring, and known as a kind and gentle soul. He lived at home with his parents, providing them expert care until they passed away.
Darrell held a deep faith, and was a lifetime member of Clearview Baptist Church. His dedication to Church and God knew no bounds. Other than his faith, he loved writing poetry, was a fan of the Tampa Bay Rays, and Nascar Racing.
Services are at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33709 on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Ralph. Inurnment will take place immediately following the service in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to gather after the inurnment in Memorial Park's Rose Hall for refreshments and fellowship.
Darrell left a legacy of faith, family and kindness. May he rest in eternal peace.
