William B. Mansfield Jr.'s Obituary
Mansfield, William B., Jr., 'Captain Bill' 88 of St. Petersburg died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Hospice House Woodside. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he moved here in 1978 from Newburyport, Massachusetts. He attended the Church of the Transfiguration Catholic Church. He was a WWII Veteran a Korean Veteran and retired from the United States Coast Guard after twenty years service. He also retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. 'Captain Bill', as he was known, was a volunteer at Bay Pines Veterans Medical Center for over sixteen years and started the fishing program there. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 13, the VFW Post 6827, the Fleet Reserve Association and the Destroyer Escort Association. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Ruth; a son, William B., III of Madeira Beach; two daughters, Ruth E. Donovan of Newburyport, Massachusetts and Barbara Mansfield-Wilson of Crawfordville, Florida; a sister, Genevieve Chartier of Florida; three Grand sons and four great grandchildren.
