Mr. Wetherell K Quinn's Obituary
Wetherell K. “Duke” QUINN, age 94, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2014, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born June 1, 1920 in New Rochelle, New York.
At Valley Forge Military Academy, in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Duke was the Captain of the football team. During WW II he joined in the Army and became a Lieutenant, traveling with his wife Eleanore, to stateside Army Camps. After the war, he lived in Bucks County, PA and was in the oil business. While there he and Eleanore enjoyed visiting New York City’s art shops and seeing Broadway shows. In 1954 the family moved to Florida’s St. Pete Beach near the big pink Federal Building, which is now the Don CeSar Hotel. Eventually they left the island and lived in St. Petersburg. Duke became a Real Estate Broker, owned his own successful business, and was a member of the St. Petersburg Realtor Assn. He was ordained a minister at the First Baptist Church in St. Petersburg and dearly loved the Lord throughout his lifetime.
Duke was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, K. Eleanore Quinn: he was a very devoted and dedicated husband.
Survivors include his daughter Katharine Lamb, St. Petersburg. “Papa Duke” was very proud of both his Grandson Roger C. Lamb Jr., and his wife Melissa Lane Lamb of Palm Harbor., and also his Granddaughter Sherrie Lamb Tschickardt and her husband Dr. Michael Tschickardt of Corpus Christi, TX. He loved visits from his eight great grandchildren: Christopher B Lamb, of Palm Harbor, Ashley Lamb Canchola of Norfolk, VA, Katelyn, Maddie and Ryan Lamb of Palm Harbor, Jonathan, Joshua and Haley-Quinn Tschickardt of Corpus Christi, TX.
Saturday, August 30, 2014 there will be a celebration of his life at 3:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in their chapel. Urn burial to follow.
