Wendell "Windy" Bennett, Jr.'s Obituary
Wendell Bennett Jr. 88 of St. Petersburg Passed away Monday August 2, 2016 while under Hospice care. Born April of 1928 in Mooresville, Indiana. The oldest of 13 children. Preceded in death by his parents Wendell Bennett Sr. & Gertrude Oxley, loving wife of 62 years Margaret Lucille Caywood and Son Russell Bennett. Surviving children Tonja Gamboe, Robert (Sharon) Bennett, Richard (Cheryl) Bennett and Randall Bennett. 10- Grand Children, 18- Great Grand Children, 3- Great Great Grand Children.
Wendell and Lucille moved to St. Petersburg from Vevay, Indiana in 1948. Wendell was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a territory salesman in Pinellas County for Lance Incorporated, retiring after 31 years. He was very active in his community over the years to include church deacon, Little League Baseball umpire, Masonic Lodge Past Master, Civil Air Patrol, Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary Trooper, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy (18 years), and Sheriff’s Office School Crossing Guard. Wendell will be sorely missed by his large family and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice.
