Wayne S. Myers' Obituary
Wayne Shartle Myers, 95, of St. Petersburg passed away June 21, 2025. Born August 29, 1929 in Orrstown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Amos and Edith (Flora) Myers.
Wayne was a member of Clearview Baptist Church since March 1956. He, along with his wife Ruth, were the founders along with three other couples. He was a men's Sunday School teacher for 59 years and a deacon in the church.
He loved to paint and he took care of painting the inside and outside of the church. A nonstop job. He built his own home home with his dad and made many items for his children. He loved to tell jokes and he even laughed at his own jokes! He was always considerate of others and he always made everyone around him laugh.
Wayne retired from A&P Food Stores in St. Petersburg. He worked there for 25 years and was an Assistant Manager.
He served with the Florida National Guard. 3rd Battalion, 211th Infantry, 1st Company.
Wayne is survived by his four children, son, Albert; daughters Carol (Ted); Sandy (Dave) and Flora (Greg), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. He had many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his sister Mildred Dunkle and brother Henry Myers.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st at Clearview Baptist Church, beginning at 10:30 am. A burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery.
