Mr. Walter Johnson McConnell's Obituary
McConnell, Walter J. , 89, of St. Petersburg went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Born in Butler, PA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved woodworking, bowling and sharing his word working talents with others. He was a member of the Royal Rangers and Frontiersmen camping fellowship. He was a member of Park Place Wesleyan Church. A proud combat veteran of the U.S. Navy he served aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga CV-14 in WWII. He retired from Florida Power after 35 years of service. Walter was preceded in death by his "Sweetheart" Carrie Belle of 63 years. He has one son, Cecil "Alex" (Joanne) McConnell; daughter Laurie Diane (Rick) Wagner; daughter Melanie Dawn (John Sr.) Bendever; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at Park Place Wesleyan Church, 4400 - 70 Avenue North in Pinellas Park.
