Walter H. Chase's Obituary
Chase, Walter Howard 90, of St. Petersburg passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, September 28, 2008. Born in Brooklyn, New York February 19, 1918, he was the son of Brigadier Starr L. Chase and Ann J. Chase. He was the loving and devoted husband to the late Rita Kathleen Chase for over 56 years. He was a cherished father to the late Sheila Irene Dugue. For over five years, he worked as a tool and die maker at IBM in Endicott, New York. In 1947, he relocated his family to St. Petersburg where he designed and constructed Sunnyland Motel on Fourth Street. He later was hired by Honeywell in Pinellas Park as an inspector where he retired after 20 years of faithful service. He was a dedicated and longstanding member of the Salvation Army where he played the baritone horn in the Army Band for many years. His hobbies, talents and interests included composing spiritual music, creating wood carvings, painting landscapes, and perfected the art of lapidary. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Walter Phillip Chase and wife, Janet Lee Chase, granddaughter, Michelle Lee Millette and great granddaughter, Alison Dawn Millette.
