Mr. Victor Joseph Pafundi's Obituary
Mr. Victor Joseph Pafundi of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully Friday, June 21, 2019 in his home with his loving family by his side. He was 93. Victor was born January 5, 1926 in Glenridge, New Jersey; the handsome son of the late Vito and Amata “Lucy” Pafundi. With the onset of WWII, he enlisted in the US Army and was ultimately assigned to the Army Air Corps where he served as a nose gunner in the B24 "Liberator" Aircraft, fighting in the Pacific Theater.
After the war, Victor married Vannina, and he began his professional career as a roofing contractor. Ultimately, Victor's company evolved into a full service contracting business and was known for building luxury homes on Long Island, New York. Victor was most proud of his family. He also loved his Italian heritage and telling stories about all the characters he knew from his time growing up in the Italian neighborhood. He was an extremely sharp card player, and he loved negotiating a good deal almost as much as he loved debating politics.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vannina "Vee" (2016), sister, Ida “Ann” (2018), son, Victor “Vittorio” (2018), and grandson-in-law, Robert (2019). Victor is survived by his children; Robert, Joanne (Jerry), Laura (Dan), his daughter-in-law Jane, and his grandchildren Kerrin, Alexandra (Joshua), and Nicholas.
Visitation will be 9am - 10am followed by funeral services at 10am, Saturday, June 29, 2019 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. Immediately following the funeral services, friends and family will recess to Memorial Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with military honors in the Garden of Enduring Love with his beloved wife, Vannina.
