Terry E. Hootman's Obituary
Terry E. Hootman
A loving and devoted son, father, brother, uncle, friend and co worker with a great sense of humor. Terry passed away in his St. Petersburg home 8-2-17 at the age of 75. He is survived by his daughters Robin and Annette; siblings Dennis, Marci, Bill, Jeff and Curt (Charles); grandchildren Taylor, Ashlee and Brock; plus dozens of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Connie and parents Gerald and Edna.
Terry was born in Peoria Illinois and relocated to Florida with his family at a young age. He was part of the first graduating class at Dixie Hollins high school (1960) and went on to get his degree at St. Pete Junior College in 1962. He married Rachel and purchased his one and only home in 1963 where he had two daughters and lived the rest of his adult life. Terry was a highly respected and long time member of the banking community spending the majority of his career with SunBank (also known as Citibank and now Suntrust). During that time he was also a dedicated member of the Garden City Baptist Church.
An avid sports fan whether it was baseball, football, basketball, hockey or even bowling he loved playing, coaching and watching all of them. (Even coaching from the couch or stands when he felt necessary)
A relatively modest man, it was the thoughtful little things he did that showed the big picture of the man he was. Always there for family, friends and coworkers you could rely on him no matter what the circumstances. The basics or fundamentals were what he believed would make the difference. Maybe that's where his love of sports came from or maybe that's why he loved sports. Regardless he had a passion for doing things the right way. Thanks for touching the hearts of so many. We will forever cherish all the great memories of the one we called Terry, Dad, Daddy, Grandpa, Uncle Terry, Mr T, Hooty and Hooter.
