Susan Meece-McEachern's Obituary
Susan Meece-McEachern of Phoenix, Arizona and formerly of St Petersburg, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 in Phoenix. She was 48.
A 1988 graduate of St Petersburg High School, she attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana – graduating in 1992 with majors in Spanish and International Relations. Susan loved nature and mission work. After graduation Susan went into the mission field and was sent to Menual School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was then invited to join the Peace Corps in 1994 and was sent to Paraguay, South America and taught teachers enhanced teaching skills. She moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico and taught for 10 years. Met her future husband and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she taught Economics for the last 11 years.
Susan loved children, teaching, traveling and nature. She liked to hike and enjoyed all outdoor activities. Her son was the joy of her life! Susan was full of life, never met a stranger and she was loved by all the people she met.
Left behind to cherish Susan’s memory is her loving husband of 11 years, Alex McEachern and her beloved 5-year-old son, Alexander McEachern. She is also survived by her parents, John and Kay Meece of St. Petersburg and her brother, David Meece of Atlanta, Ga.
A Celebration of the Susan’s Life will be held on Saturday. Oct 13th at 2:00 P.M. at Northeast Presbyterian Church at 4400 Shore Acres Blvd N.E. St. Petersburg FL 33713. All her friends and family are welcome to share in the commemoration of the life of this special young woman.
In honor of Susan, a new scholarship is being formed to support an aspiring graduate in their college career. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to this fund and help one of the many students she loved so much to further their education. Make checks payable to N.E.P.C. (Northeast Presbyterian Church at 4400 Shore Acres Blvd N.E. St. Petersburg FL 33713) notating Susan's Scholarship. It will be forwarded by the church to the scholarship fund at Alhambra High School in Phoenix.
