Szemer, Dr. Stanley H.
Dr. Stanley H. Szemer, 91, of St. Petersburg, FL, went peacefully to heaven to be with Our Lord on Sunday, July 23.
Stan was born on April 27, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Anna, who emigrated to the United States from Poland. They had seven children, Stan being the sixth. He attended Catholic schools through high school, then attended Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in Cleveland, Ohio, where he graduated in 1964. In November 1975, Stan and Ruth moved their family to St. Petersburg, FL, where Stan practiced dentistry at Bay Pines VA Medical Center then retired in 1993 as well as retiring as a Lt. Col in the military.
Stan was a member of the Masonic Lodge, where he was one of only a handful who held a gold card for lectures. He was also a Shriner.
Stan was a pilot and enjoyed flying his 1964 Mooney with his father-in-law, then later his 1966 Mooney with his son.
Stan loved having a close-knit family who were always around for he and Ruth to carry on their Polish traditions with. He was most proud of his two grandsons who lovingly called him Papa.
Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth. He is survived by their children Joseph (Donna), Michael (Nada) and Susan (Tom Jones); two grandsons Nicholas and Andrew, and one brother, Tadzu, who is also a retired dentist. Services will be private.
