Mrs. Shirley May Blonshine's Obituary
Blonshine, Shirley May Powers, 91, of St. Petersburg died Monday, May 10, 2010 at Arden Court - Seminole. Born May 2, 1919 in Grand Rapids, MN to William and Mary Powers she came here in 1944. Her early married years revolved around her children and any activity they might be involved in. She was an accomplished bridge player, an avid square dancer, and loved times spent at their home in the North Carolina mountains. She was very active with church activities and volunteering with Hospice. She had a close and loving family and her favorite moments were any family get together particularly if it involved her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Rick Blonshine, St. Petersburg; daughter Sherry McBee, St. Petersburg; and son Bill Blonshine, Dacula, GA; a brother Jim Powers, Tallahassee; and a sister Mary Lou Mathews, Hartsville, SC; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents; by Walter, her beloved husband of 59 years; a son Brandon; brothers David and Bill Powers;, and a sister, Jalene Felosi. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday May 19, 2010 at Clearview United Methodist Church, 4515 38th Avenue North in St. Pete. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Clearview United Methodist Church.
