Mrs. Shelby J. Telese's Obituary
Shelby J. Telese of St Petersburg, Florida passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 in her home with her loving family by her side. She was 78. Shelby was born September 20, 1939 in Alcorn County, Mississippi; the beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Mabel McNeely.
A college graduate of USF, Shelby received her bachelor’s degree as a member of the first graduating class. Her career path began in the field of education where she was a teacher at multiple grade levels. Later in life she worked as a social worker and as an administrator for a nursing home in Altamont, Illinois. Shelby also worked as a prevention specialist in St. Petersburg where she was instrumental in assisting the youth and students in the community. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a beloved grandmother and great grandmother. Her loving and caring spirit will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Kristian Telese and her sister, Mona Warner. Shelby is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Jack and their children, Brett (Robin) Telese and Stephanie Telese. She was the loving grandmother of two granddaughters, Brittney and Maddlyn and two great grandsons, Aden and Jacob. Shelby is also survived by her brothers in law, Tony Telese, Joe Telese, Terry Telese and Joe Viherek.
Visitation will be 10am – 11am followed by funeral services at 11am Friday, December 8, 2017 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th St. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. Immediately following the funeral ceremony, family and friends will process to her final resting place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
