Sarah Gwen Giffin's Obituary
Sarah Gwen (Sally) Giffin, 99 years of age died May 1, 2017 at her home. She was born April 20,1918 to Elmer J. and Sallie W. Davies and raised in Lansford Pennsylvania. She became an accomplished musician playing both the saxephone and the clarinet but excelled as a pianist.She attended Lasell Junior College in Boston Mass.,and then majored in Music at Ithaca College, Ithaca, New York where she met her future husband, Earl Kitchener Giffin. After graduation she taught Public School Music for 2 years. Sarah Gwen and Earl (who predeceased her), married in Lansford, on November 20,1941. They retired to St Petersburg in 1980. 'Sally' is survived by her 2 children; Gwendolyn Cheryl Carter and Gordon Davies Giffin; 3 Grandchildren; Courtney Fletcher (Clint), Scott Carter (Sarah) and Kelley Giffin; and 5 Great Grandchildren; Carter, Brody and Campbell Fletcher and Darby and Liam Carter. Sarah Gwen was the most amazing and loving mother, an exceptional, funloving and supportive Grandmother, and an absolutely devoted "Monnie" to her "Littles". Our family tree has now lost the 2 oldest and most beloved branches but because of them the rest of our tree will continue to strengthen and grow from their love of us. Sarah Gwen's amazing spirit will be with us always. Rwy'n dy garu di Mum...Services will be private.
