Sarah M. Calkins' Obituary
Sarah Margaret Calkins, 88, of St. Petersburg, FL peacefully passed away on June 17, 2024. Sarah was born February 2, 1936, in Hartford, CT.
Sarah took tap and jazz dancing classes in her youth. In 1969, her and her family relocated to Florida. There she worked at Sun Bank and retired from Scotty’s Hardware after 23 devoted years as their bookkeeper. In her retirement she enjoyed dancing with her husband, spending time with her family, and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John, son James, parents Sarah and Carl, stepdad Sonny, In-laws Rose and Wesley, Robert (Barbara) and Ronnie, siblings Diana (James), Thomas (Simone), Carol (Carmine) and Allen (Kelly).
Sarah is survived by her siblings Henry (Lynn), Frances (Dave), Tippy (Cindy) and Billy, children Patricia (Drew), (Janet), William (Jolene), Brian (David), Cindy Lu (AJ), grandchildren Matthew, Kate (Blaine), Sean, Joey, Danae (Gus), Billy (Cici), Nicole (Nick), Jimmy, Sarah (Nathan), and Dana (Nick), great-grandchildren Jackson, Peyton, Rory, Aiden, Ryder, Bella, Penny, Lennon, William, Frankie, Aubrey, Mason, Emma, Charlie, Piper, August, Damian, Vanessa and Ethan, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Her warm heart and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The memorial service to celebrate Sarah’s life will be held on Sunday, July 7, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Monday, July 8, at 1:30 PM.
