Mrs. Santina T. (Sandy McKenzie) Slater's Obituary
Slater, Santina "Sandy" (McKenzie) of St. Petersburg passed on to join her parents, husband Fergus ,and daughter Diane McKenzie on December 21, 2009 after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on October 7, 1922 in Hoboken, New Jersey. Sandy grew up in New York City's "Hells Kitchen" and moved to Florida in 1953. Sandy left behind a legacy at Westminster Day School after teaching preschool there for over 22 years. She touched countless children and parents lives with her loving, nurturing ways and good humor. She enjoyed spending all of her free time at little league games and dance recitals. Sandy leaves behind a son, David McKenzie, a daughter-in-law Cindy, and two loving grandchildren, Heather and Ryan. Her infectious smile and laughter will be missed forever. Gifts to Hospice are requested in lieu of flowers.
