Thank you, William Wordsworth, for summing up my feelings for our Ruth: "There hath passed away a glory from the earth."
As my mother's best friend since kindergarten, Ruth kept my mother, Olga Bies, alive to me with lively and loving tales of their Northside Pittsburgh childhood, filled with giggles and merriment.
Like my mother, Ruth was never in a bad mood. She always woke up on the right side of the bed. Even after losing her beloved daughter a mere 3 months ago, she maintained a bright spirit and continued concern for others
She has left a long legacy of friends for whom she set the gold standard of being the BEST friend any of us will ever have -- and a standard to which all of us should aspire.
An old-fashioned term reserved for only a few who remain, Ruth, you are a "quality" person. We lose much with your passing.
Jesus said, "My Father's house has many mansions." -I hope that yours is next door to my mother's.
Love, Paula Todd - Austin Texas
