Ruth Schreur passed away November 2nd
Ruth Schreur, age 80, of St. Petersburg passed away peacefully from lung cancer with pulmonary complications on Friday, November 2nd. She was born on August 9th, 1938 in Holland, Michigan and married Ivan Schreur on September 5th, 1958. She was preceded in death by her parents, older sister, Norma and older brother, Paul. She was blessed with a daughter, Deborah (husband Jeff Delewski) son Robert (wife Tracey), and three grandchildren, Randy (wife Holly), Jeremy and Abigail.
During high school, Ruth was a member of the “Klompen Dancers” and loved kicking up her wooden shoes at Holland’s annual Tulip Time festival. Ruth and Ivan moved to Ann Arbor Michigan where she worked at various jobs helping Ivan through the University of Michigan. After college they moved several times before settling down in Grafton, Ohio. Ruth worked for the local newspaper, the Chronicle Telegram, as a retail advertising sales agent for many years. After she retired, they moved to Vermilion to spend more time with her grandchildren, travel and golf. She had 2 holes-in-one and went on many travel/golfing and cruising vacations.
Ruth loved being part of the Paradise Shores Community where she served as the ‘jewelry lady’ for the annual Bazaar, organized the bridge club, headed up the library committee, and served on the grounds committee. She enjoyed working puzzles, swimming and socializing. She was also an active member of the Chapel on the Hill church. Ruth and her husband worked together on the Fellowship Committee and with the Financial Secretary. She will be dearly missed by her many friends and family.
Memorial donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice North Pinellas Brookside.
A celebration of life will be held in mid-December at Paradise Shores.
