Ruth Katherine Rushing's Obituary
Ruth Katherine Rushing, 94 of Seminole passed away peacefully on Monday August 15, 2016. She was born in the Panama Canal Zone, while her father, Major Owen Marron was stationed there with the Army Corp of Engineers. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Wilburn O. Rushing and her two sisters. Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Judge Steve and Mia Rushing, son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Alisa Rushing, daughter, Renee Rushing; daughter, Cherie Zellmer; daughter and son-in-law, Merry and James Kates; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and her beloved Kitty. Ruth was a conservation activist during the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's in Pinellas County fighting to clean up Tampa Bay and for her preservation of the property now known as the Boca Ciega Millenial Park. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday August 22, 2016 at 10:30a at the Memorial Park Funeral Home in St. Petersburg.
