Ruth E. Hogan's Obituary
Ruth Doremus Hogan, of St. Petersburg, passed away early the morning of October 12th, 2022 in the care of Suncoast Hospice-South Pinellas after spending 9 days in the CVICU unit at St. Anthony's Hospital. Although her hospital days were very hard, her passing was peaceful with her family at her side. Special thanks to Robyn at Hospice.
Ruth was born in Bloomfield, NJ and came here as a young child, along with her siblings Irving, Grace, Emily, Irene, Dorothy, Bill and Butch and her parents, Gladys and Harry Doremus, all who have preceded her in death. Her husband, Leonard Hogan, passed 7 weeks before her on August 19, 2022. Ruth had a varied work history. Starting at Matthew's Restaurant as a waitress, she met and in 1955 married, Leonard Hogan. She also was employed by Aunt Hatties, ECI, and drove a newspaper delivery truck for the then St. Petersburg Times, which at 4'9", she was very proud of. She was a 15 + year volunteer for Ed White Hospital, and loved being needed and helping wherever she could. Ruth had many friends, but the most special gals in her life were Marie and Sally.
Ruth and Leonard enjoyed NASCAR, gambling, traveling and in their later years - jigsaw puzzles. Ruth, along with Leonard, are survived by two daughters, Sandra Hogan Hardin (Paul) and Susan Ann Hogan; two grandchildren Brandon Hogan Hardin (Eva) and Allison Hardin Davidson (Kyle) and one great-granddaughter Barbara "Bobbie" Hardin. Their passing leaves a big void in our hearts, but we are grateful to Westminster Suncoast Rehab and Assisted Living, St. Anthony's Hospital and especially Hospice. A small service was previously held for Leonard and a similar service will be held for Ruth, to be announced in the near future. They were loved and are missed everyday.
