Mr. Russell C. Einherst's Obituary
Russell C. “Ike” Einherst of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Palms of Pasadena Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 88 years old.
He was the son of August and Dorothy (Henn) Einherst of Hellertown, Pennsylvania. He was a proud veteran who served six years in the US Army and worked for more than 37 years for the US Postal Service before retiring as Tour Superintendent in 1984. Ike married Elizabeth "Libby" Carey in 1951 in Lewes, MD. Both he and Libby were strong advocate and an excellent ambassador for SPCA Tampa Bay. Ike and his wife were huge animal lovers and had many pets throughout their lives: Snoopy (the dog), Bootsie (the cat), Thumper (the rabbit) and Ike's faithful companion of nine years, Poppy (pictured with Ike).
"Ike" is member of the Heritage Society at SPCA Tampa Bay and the Commemorative Roll of Honor Society. Ike is predeceased by his brother and sister, David and Jean Einherst.
Funeral services will be held 12pm, Monday, March 26, 2018 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery 5750 49th St. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to SPCA Tampa Bay 9099 130th Ave N, Largo, FL 33773. Immediately following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest with military honors presented by the US Army. Memorial Park Funeral Home is serving the family.
