Died Saturday, October 26, 2024 in St. Petersburg, Florida
Our beloved Father, Ronald P. Milligan, ascended into Heaven on Saturday, October 26, 2024 to meet Jesus and reunite with his wife, Irish V. Milligan whom he referred to as “love” and who preceded him in death 6 years ago along with his cherished Son, Scott E. Milligan. Both his Father, Bennie Milligan and Mother, Bessie Gardner also preceded him in death several years ago.
Ron “Dad” was a devoted husband to Irish V. Milligan, loving Father to Ronald C. Milligan, Catherine Y. Tilman, Scott E. Milligan and Ernest Milligan, an adored Grandpa to Kristin R. Herman, Joseph, Isaac, Jazlyn and Jessica Milligan, and a little brother to Ted Milligan as well as an Uncle to his 6 nephews and nieces, Jeanette Saal, Trudy Mounce, Linda Milligan, Carolyn Ross, Mark and Paul Milligan. In addition, he had 4 first cousins (Randy Sineath, Jr. (deceased), Marie Carter (deceased), Betty Amodio, Patricia Truesdale and a step brother, Calvin Vaughn, Jr whom he considered all as added siblings throughout his lifetime.
Dad joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served 4 years and then joined the United States Coast Guard which he served for a little over 16 years as a proud service man to this United States of America. Throughout his military career, he served in Sandusky, Ohio, San Juan Puerto Rico on the USCG Cutters Aurora and Ponte Warde and lastly on the USCG Cutter, Steadfast in St Petersburg, Florida, believing that “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor”, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and ultimately retiring from the Armed Services in 1981.
After retiring, he worked at Bay Pines V.A. Medical Center (k/n/a) C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center for 27 years receiving several promotions and awards. He was also known as an Elvis impersonator to Nursing Home patients nearby. Among his hobbies were, upholstery work, leather work, and interior design.
The Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. with a graveside memorial to be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. both at Memorial Park, located at 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida. Flowers would be deeply appreciated, however donations can be made in his honor to the local United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
