I can honestly say, Ron was a dear friend. He was always willing to help others. I never saw him angry and he always had a smile and a laugh. That will be missed by us all.
A few memories I had with Ron. Ron and I worked together at Kennewick Wash. I remember my wife and I spending Thanksgiving with Ron and family. He said they would do all the cooking. My wife and I, expecting the big turkey dinner, was surprised when Ron presented us with an Italian thanksgiving of Lasagna. It was delicious by the way. Ron and I also worked together in Wilmington Delaware. We stayed and lived with his cousin who lived in Bear, Delaware. (I'd love to hear from him). One weekend, Ron said he was going to take us to have the best Philly Steak sandwich ever. As we got out of the van, a ragged man came up to us and Ron said to the man, "hey, do you have a quarter I can have?" The man looked at Ron in utter surprise and said, "I was going to ask you that?" Ron said, "if you don't have a quarter, we're leaving". The guy said, "Ok, goodbye". I thought that was the funniest moment I'd seen. Another weekend, Ron wanted to visit his grandmother in Newark. He called her and said we would be in that afternoon. His grandmother said she would prepare some lunch for us. When we arrived Ron's grandmother had prepared this 5 course dinner for us that was one of the biggest spreads I'd ever seen. Ron said, "It's the Italian way".
Ron, you will truly be missed old friend. Daniel Spencer
