Robert Walter von Blomberg's Obituary
Robert W. von Blomberg, 88, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on April 27, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Michaeline von Blomberg, and is survived by his children, Brooke von Blomberg and Michael von Blomberg (Andrea), and his cherished grandchildren, Alexander and Olivia von Blomberg.
Robert lived a life defined by perseverance, always showing up for the people and values that mattered most. He was a devoted father and grandfather who found great joy in spending time with his family, especially taking his grandchildren to the playground and sharing ice cream together.
Earlier in life, Robert was an avid car enthusiast and member of a racing club. He worked as a bank manager in New York near LaGuardia Airport before later moving to Albuquerque, where he spent many years in car sales. He had a deep love for history and was often known as the family genealogist; a walking encyclopedia whose knowledge and curiosity left a lasting impression on those around him.
He was a fighter, a provider, and someone who could always be counted on when it mattered most. He had a sharp sense of humor and a gift for storytelling, often filling a room with laughter in seconds. He also had an eye for quality and took pride in dressing well, appreciating fine clothing, jewerly, and presentation.
Robert was a man of faith who explored different traditions throughout his life, from Catholicism to Unity and Religious Science, while always holding a belief in God and the power of words and prayer.
He was also creative and skilled with his hands, an artist, sculptor, and builder who enjoyed working on projects and expressing himself through his craft. He had a love for antique cars and especially enjoyed his wife’s cooking, with spaghetti and meatballs being a favorite.
Robert will be remembered for his strength, his humor, and the steady presence he brought to those he loved. He showed up, with perseverance, faith, and love for his family, and that is how he will be remembered.
A Graveside Service will take place Friday, May 1, at 10 am, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg FL 33709
