Mr. Robert L. Sipes' Obituary
Robert L. Sipes (Poppy), 81 of Kenneth City, Florida has passed away peacefully at home under the care of hospice and his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Mary E. Sipes; father Eugene F. Sipes; mother Neoma Baker Keck; brother Kenneth Sipes. He is survived by his son Robert W. Sipes of Largo; Stepson Edward J. Luck of Kenneth City, FL; sister Billie Jean Boyer of Ashville, NC; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. After visiting relatives on vacation and falling in love with the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area, Mr. Sipes moved to St. Petersburg in 1964 from Lenoir, NC. He was an avid billiards player in the 60’s, some would say expert! While enjoying the downtown St. Petersburg area he met his wife Mary in one the local pool halls (Mastry’s). He later managed the Ohio Food Store on Madeira Beach from 1967 until its closing in the early 80’s and was owner of 2 other produce stores in Treasure Island and Seminole. Mr. Sipes was known for being a loving and kind person who was a friend to all. He enjoyed his family and friends and often blessed us with amazing stories about his travels, historical facts and loved to talk sports. We are all deeply saddened by your passing but knew it was time to let you go. We will be forever grateful for your guidance, wisdom, patience, kindness and most of all your love. May the Holy Spirit now take you into his arms and bless you. Your work is done. Resting with Mary now. The family will be holding a private memorial.
