Robert B Conser's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Conser passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, one day short of his 94th birthday in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born in Miami, Florida and raised in Southern California. He embraced the lifestyle of the west coast. He especially loved cars building his own 1938 Ford chop top. He was a star baseball catcher in high school and at Long Beach City College. At the young age of 21, he got married to his sweetheart JoAnn. Bob started as a telephone lineman in California and quickly moved up the ranks. He was asked to move to Florida in 1962 to improve customer service at General Telephone. He retired in 1988 as Director of Outside Plant Construction. His coworkers would often joke “There’s a right way, wrong way and Bob’s way.” Bob was also a veteran serving in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean War Conflict. Bob and JoAnn raised three boys together. He cherished his family and would do anything for them. He could fix anything and would often repair bicycles, go-carts and mini-bikes for his own kids, along with all the neighborhood kids as well. After retirement, he went on to his “new job” at Lakewood Country Club where he perfected his golf game. He would also go on to serve as president at the country club for several years. Bob was a fighter even into his last days, still speaking of things he needed to do for his family. Bob’s wife preceded his passing. Bob is survived by his three sons, David, Stephen, Matthew, 5 grandchildren: John David, Alisa, Kyle, Blake, Ashley and 3 great grandchildren.
